| THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Career Politicians... Where did they come from? In every election cycle, you get those who run for an office that pop up out of no where... I believe that everything starts at the local level. As we have seen here in Pearland, we've had multiple residents start at City Council. Once a politician makes their way into Congress, it's very difficult to make the changes that would benefit our community, so we are "stuck" with those that won the popularity contest way back at the beginning, but now are true "Career Politicians". (Good luck trying to get them out of office now!) WHERE WERE THEY MONTHS BEFORE ELECTION? I find it curious that every year, we have those that run for an office and all of a sudden, they claim to be "active in the community". One year, we found that a opponent actually used funds that were donated to their campaign, to pay a $10 "membership fee" to a local organization 2 months before the election, in order to list belonging to "local organizations". Aren't you tired of those who claim to be involved, yet only start moving around the community months before an election? I am. That is just one of many reasons why I am actively involved in our City. I believe our residents are as tired as I am with our usual career politicians, who are handpicked by certain individuals. Isn't it time to bring someone on board who has shown continual involvement in our community? |
